Professor John Triantafyllidis is graduate of the Medical School of the Athens University, Greece (Degree: Excellent). His Medical Thesis was conducted also in the University of Athens, Medical School (Degree: Excellent). He was Research Fellow in the Gastroenterology Unit of the Oxford University UK (1981-1982). He was Head of the Department of Gastroenterology “METAXAS” Cancer Hospital, Piraeus, Greece (1988-1991) and Head of the Department of Gastroenterology “Saint Panteleimon” General Hospital, Nicea, (1991 – 2013). He is Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (2002), and Associate Professor, Medical University of IASI, Romania (since 2007). He was Editor of the official Journal of the Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology “Annals of Gastroenterology” (1996 till 2010) and the Journal of the Hellenic Society of Gastrointestinal Oncology “Digestive Oncology” (2000-2010). He translated many books in the Greek language including “The acute abdomen” (ed. De Dombal UK), “Diseases of the Gut and Pancreas” (Ed. Miscievitz et al UK), etc. He is Reviewer in numerous International Medical Journals and Member of a number of National and International Medical Societies including the American College of Gastroenterology, the British Medical Association, etc. He was President of the Organizing Committee of dozens of International and Greek Congresses. He was President of the Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology, the Hellenic Society of Digestive Oncology, the Hellenic Helicobacter Pylori Study Group, and the Hellenic Inflammatory Bowel Disease Study Group. He is author of more than 230 papers in peer review international journals and more than 270 in the Greek medical literature. He was Editor of 20 books including the book INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE, “GASTROINTESTINAL LYMPHOMAS”, “DIGESTIVE ONCOLOGY” (Award of the Hellenic National Academy of Sciences 1991) etc. So far more that 3700 citations of his scientific work appeared in the international medical literature. His main scientific interest includes Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Digestive Oncology. He is Scientific Director of the Gastroenterology Department of Meditteraneo First Care since 2018.
