Dr Boutsikou is a Consultant Cardiologist specialized in Congenital Heart Disease and Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR). She leads the Cardiac Magnetic Resonance clinical service at Mediterraneo Hospital and she is Cardiologist consultant in the Primary Healthcare Unit Mediterraneo First Care in Glyfada. She also holds an honorary position as Research and Clinical Fellow at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London UK. Dr Boutsikou is a Research Associate at the 1st Department of Pediatrics of Athens Medical School at Ag Sofia Hospital and at the Neonatology Department of Athens Medical School at Aretaieion Hospital in Athens.
Dr Boutsikou graduated from Athens Medical School in 2002 and did her Cardiology training at Onassis Cardiac Surgery Centre in Athens. She was subspecialized in Congenital Heart Disease and Congenital Echocardiography at the Royal Brompton Hospital and subsequently in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance at the Royal Brompton Hospital MRI Unit. She holds level 3 certification in CMR as well as in Congenital and pediatric CMR from the European Society of Cardiology (EACVI) and the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR).
She holds a PhD Degree in Cariology and two Master Degrees, one in Biostatistics and one in Intensive Care Units-Cardiology Nursing.
She has worked as a Researcher at the Laboratory of Surgical Reasearch , at the 1st Department of Propaedeutic Surgery of Athens Medical School, participating in numerous clinical and experimental protocols. Her research work includes 84 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 4 book chapters in international books on Imaging in Congenital Heart Disease and more than 150 presentations in National and International Congresses.
She has received 15 awards in National and International Congresses and 2 Grants , one from the Hellenic Society of Cardiology and one from the Hellenic Institute of Cardiology for training in Congenital Heart disease in the UK. She is a member of 14 Greek and International Scientific Societies.
